DIY Peppermint Bath Salts

Hello Lovely,

Peppermint Bath Salts are a great way to unwind after a long day at work. Whether you’re bathing solo or with your significant other, bath salts are relaxing and great way to put someone in the mood! Apart from the romantic benefits of bath salts, peppermint is a stimulating scent and is known to help reduce headaches, and would be a great natural help for cold and flu symptoms also.

These bath salts lack a lot of the chemicals and preservatives that you would find in a jar from the store. You could buy these at the local bath and body store and pay $10-$15 a jar but making them at home drops your cost significantly. Make several batches and use them as gifts for co-workers, bestie or even your kid’s teacher as a thank you for putting up with your kid daily. Be a little selfish and make one for yourself too while you’re at it.

You will need:

·        1 ½ cups Epsom salts

·        ½ cup sea salt

·        peppermint essential oil

·        red food colouring

Directions:

Combine salt, Epsom salts, and peppermint essential oil-to your desired scent strength, in a bowl.  If you wish to add colour to create the look of peppermint-remove half the Epsom salt mixture from the bowl and set aside.

Add a few drops of red or pink food colouring to the remaining half and stir- continue adding until you reach your desired colour.

Layer white and red Epsom salt mixture into jar.  Alternating colours until full.

To use:

Scoop ½ cup of Peppermint Bath salts into hot bathtub.

NOTE: These would be pretty in a mason jar as well. Don’t forget a ribbon and handmade tag for the recipient.
