Last week, we officially began fall! That means one of my favourite TV shows has finally returned: How to Get Away With Murder! This means I'm going to need an in-show snack! And although it's not quite winter, Fall is close enough of an excuse for me to indulge in hot cocoa. But it's still far too hot for HOT cocoa and with all of the steamy hot drama from HTGAWM, I'm going to need something to cool me down, so instead I'm sipping on Frozen Hot Chocolate.
I had never tried it before, but I had heard about it for years. So I couldn't let this year pass me by and I didn't enjoy a frozen hot chocolate. It's like a Wendy's chocolate frosty without the adverse side affects because I can make it with Lactaid milk.
If you love hot cocoa but want to change things up and make a frozen version, then you’ll love this recipe. Only 3 ingredients are required and then it’s optional to top it off with whipped cream and chocolate curls. Either way, you’ll love this chocolate-y beverage and it’s sure to become a new favourite.
Here’s the recipe:
Frozen Hot Chocolate
Serves: 3-4 servings
- 2 cups milk
- 3 hot cocoa packets
- 3 cups ice
- 1-2 drops pure almond extract (optional but good)
- whipped cream
- chocolate curls (optional)
- Place milk, cocoa mix, (almond extract optional) and ice in a blender. Blend until mostly smooth.
- Pour into a glass and top with whipped cream and chocolate curls.
P.S. I may or may not have spiked my hot chocolate with some Bailey's after a long day of work. But I'll never tell if you won't!
