Many people have mixed feelings about Valentine’s Day. For some, the day creates an excuse to go on a romantic date with a significant other, exchange gifts and eat a lot of chocolate. For others, it’s a dreaded commercial holiday that highlights their single status. Whether you plan to celebrate Valentine's Day or not, there’s no reason you can’t celebrate the less controversial Galentine’s Day with your girls!
The holiday’s patron saint Leslie Knope likes to focus on her big three—friends, waffles, and work. On Galentine’s Day, it’s all about ladies celebrating ladies with brunch, gifts, brunch, and more brunch. Yesterday I had a few of my favourite ladies over for a Galentine's Day brunch. The event also coincided with my best friend's Telia's birthday and with my birthday coming up next Monday, and Dara's birthday this month as well, we decided to celebrate everyone's birthday at once!
I wanted an explosion of flowers, pinks, whites and reds! I didn't get the flowers because the decorations took up my entire budget, but I still ensured the place was thoroughly decorated with a nice menu. I served Red Velvet Waffles with my famous quiche! There was a candy bar with three different kinds of candy and strawberry flavoured gourmet popcorn. To drink, I made a Watermelon Rum Punch and a Mango Rum Punch. Isn't day drinking awesome? I honestly believe we should do the MOST for each other! Why not be extra with your friends?
This weekend I tried being an adult, but it really just didn't work for me. I know I'm an adult, but sometimes adulthood can be boring. So at my brunch, we played, What Do You Meme and Randomise. What do you Meme is a really fun card game where players compete to come up with the funniest caption for a meme. Then we played Randomise, which is a new game where you must help your team mates guess what you are by describing, drawing or acting. It was the first time any of my friends had played the game but they did not enjoy the game (more on that later).
