The New Drink that Has Me Excited to Go to Starbucks

Hello Lovely,

I don't know if you've noticed, but internationally, Starbucks has a line of new drinks that's practically breaking the internet. (I"m still waiting to be able to order The Unicorn Frappuccino.) But there's a new drink that has me really excited to go to Starbucks.

The new Horchata Almondmilk Frappuccino® Blended Beverage is every lactose intolerant person's dream! Hands up everyone who hates being charged extra just for soy or almond milk? Starbucks' Horchata Frappuccino this is the first Frappuccino recipe that uses almond milk as the original "milk" ingredient. The best part? While the inspiration for the drink stems from a summer favourite, Starbucks' new Horchata Frappuccino is a permanent menu item.

The coffee giant's newest blended drink, the Horchata Frappuccino, is made with almond milk, cinnamon dolce syrup, coffee and ice. The treat is topped with whipped cream, caramel, and cinnamon and sugar sprinkles

So I'm not sure when this drink will hit us here in The Bahamas, but if it never comes, now that we know what the ingredients are we can just customise our order and have people think we're ordering something from the secret menu.

Which new Starbucks drink are you most excited about this summer? Share what you last ordered from Starbucks in the comment section below!

Blended White Christmas Tea Lattes

Hi friends!

I hope you had a productive weekend. I’ll admit, I’ve been a little depressed last week

since my boyfriend went back. I slept a lot, and if it weren’t for my love of the Thug

Kitchen cookbook, I wouldn’t have cooked anything or blogged either. But yesterday, I

had a breakthrough. In church, the message spoke on dealing with depression

(something I have openly shared my struggles with). We discussed the story of Elijah in

1 Kings 19.  And I was reminded that the worst thing I could do when I’m in that state is

to isolate myself. If any of you guys struggle with feelings of depression, feel free to

reach out to me if you need someone to talk to. If you’re ready to talk, trying sipping this

little lovely.

This is actually my second time trying this so I’ve made a few very slight adjustments.

The original recipe calls for earl grey tea, but when I smelled the Stash© Christmas Tea,

I bought that instead. Plus the smell has me longing for the 60 degree weather winter

we had. Tea and coffee can be great, but it’s so hot outside. So keep a jar of this in your

fridge for whenever you need a creamy caffeinated cool down. The tea mix will actually

keep in the fridge for at least a week.

Blended White Christmas Tea Lattes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups vanilla almond milk

  • ½ cup water

  • 2 bags Stash© Christmas Tea*

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup or agave syrup (to taste)

  • 2 cups ice cubs (I only used 1 cup)

  • ½ banana (I used a whole banana)

Directions

1. In a small saucepan, heat the almond milk and water over medium heat until it starts to bubble around the edges. Turn off the heat and add the tea bags. Let them steep for 2-5 minutes. If you let the tea steep too long it could taste bitter, (especially if using a mint based tea, it will be too minty and overpower the creaminess) so set a timer. Take the bags out and stick all that in the fridge/freezer to cool down at least 1 ½ hours (faster in the freezer).

2. When you’re ready to drink, add the maple syrup, ice, banana and tea mix to a blender and blend until it is smooth.

*Honestly you can use chai, peppermint, earl grey, whatever you like to drink. Go crazy.

This drink makes an excellent pick me up and I strongly recommend drinking this on a day when you’re feeling down. What do you like to eat or drink when you’re feeling down? Sound off in the comment section below and don’t forget to subscribe! Here’s to a great week!

Strawberry Cocoa Smoothie

I am so bloated after that trip! I can't say that I will immediately begin a weight loss regime, but I will start with simple cut backs, or at least healthier substitutions for how I've been eating these past five days. Do you guys ever pig out on your vacation or are you so disciplined that it doesn't even matter? I'm the kind of gal that pigs out just because the phone is ringing too much! Is that bad? I'm sure I'm not alone on this. So to satisfy my urge to consume in a much healthier manner, I made this smoothie to go with breakfast this morning. To be honest, I ended up drinking it more as a pre-breakfast snack. It was so good, I couldn't put it down! I adapted this recipe from my Smoothie Bible and I think you'll like it too. I added more cocoa than it originally asked for. The entire time, I kept singing in my head, "I'm in love with the coco". It was only this past week that I discovered 'coco' is not 'cocoa' as in 'cocoa powder' like hot chocolate.
