This Quiz will Help You Create a Custom Wedding Cocktail

This Quiz Will....jpg

Hello Lovely,

Wedding Season is upon us. Everyone is still talking about the Royal Wedding (I didn't even bother to watch) and I'm sure a lot of relationships are feeling the pressure to walk down the aisle in style now! One of the ways you can do that is by creating your own custom cocktail for your big day. I've been to a lot of events where they created custom cocktails for the event and that really made it feel special. But making your own signature drink can be a lot of pressure. What should it taste like? Whose taste buds should you go with? Should you include top shelf drinks?

Brilliant Earth has a super-simple solution. The ethically-sourced engagement ring company just launched its very own Wedding Cocktail Generator to help you and your betrothed create a drink specially tailored to your relationship. The quiz results even provide a mocktail version of the recipe for nondrinkers.

So now, instead of worrying whether “met while bar-hopping downtown” tastes more like vodka or gin, you can get back to the important decisions, like whether to spend your money on an end-of-the-night soft pretzel drunchies bar or a bridal-themed bouncy castle. (I personally want the bouncing castle - holding my bouquet, ladies!)

3 Cocktails to Try This Valentine's Day

Hello Lovely,

We're officially in February, which means it's about to start raining hearts and kissing emojis. Is it just me or did February kind of sneak up on us? We were so preoccupied with New Year's Resolutions, budgeting, fitness regimes, and President Trump (ugh), that even though January seemed to drag on forever, we still weren't quite ready for February. Normally for Thirsty Thursdays, we try to bring you one cocktail that we've actually made, but today we decided to give you guys three different Valentine's Day themed cocktails to try and then you can tell us which one was your favourite! Don't forget to share!

Strawberry Bellini with Rim Sugar HOW TO: First, you’ll need to make some Strawberry Syrup: Ingredients: 1 pound of strawberries (fresh is better, but frozen will work in a pinch) 1 cup water 1 cup sugar Hull and chop your strawberries, then add them into a medium-sized saucepan. Next, add the water and sugar. Place the pan over medium-high heat and bring your mixture to a low boil and let the mix cook until the fruit begins to break down (about 8 to 10 minutes). Stir, stir, stir the whole time! Remove the saucepan from the heat. Next, put a mesh sieve over a large measuring cup. Strain your syrup through the sieve (to get rid of the fruit solids). Discard the berries or use the berries for another dish (we love adding them to plain yogurt!) Pour the syrup back into the saucepan. Bring this mixture back to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and bring the mix to a simmer. You’ll want to simmer your syrup until it reduces and thickens up a bit (about 5 to 10 more minutes). Once you’ve hit that stage, remove the pan from the heat and let your syrup cool. Pour into a glass container and keep chilled in the refrigerator. Next, make your strawberry bellinis! Cocktail ingredients: 8 oz Prosecco 4 oz strawberry syrup Dell Cove Spice Co.’s Strawberry flavored Cocktail Rim Sugar 2 chilled champagne glasses Directions: Rim your chilled champagne glasses with Dell Cove Spice Co.’s Strawberry Cocktail Rim Sugar and set aside. Pour 2 oz of strawberry syrup into each glass. Top off glass with Prosecco. Garnish with strawberry, if desired. Makes 2 drinks.

Feel free to swap out ingredients where necessary (such as the brand of alcohol or maybe using raspberries instead of strawberries). Mix one up for you and your lover, or maybe just sit back and sip on one with your favourite gal pal. The only real question left is, shaken or stirred?

Get Your Swerve on with these Halloween Drink Ideas

Hello Lovely,

Often times at parties, the fruit punch or signature drink gets the spotlight and then it soon fades to soda and water (wine if offered at the more upscale shindigs).  But why should the cool drinks have all the fun?  Here’s a mix of warm and cold drinks to liven your Halloween party:

Apple Cider – At 3 to 4 hours cooking time, the warm Caramel Apple Cider is the longest on our list but certainly provides a depth of flavor and aroma. The flavor and scent of the cinnamon sticks, apples, oranges and other spices are truly highlighted in this drink.  Totally worth the wait and prep time.

Bailey’s Peppermint Cream Cocktail – Crushed candy cane and minty liquer add to this hot chocolate drink

Bloody Good Milkshake Shots - Melted dark chocolate outlines the rim and glad of this cool drink

Get dirty with our Dirty Ghost Martini! A basic Bailey's and vodka gets a spooky update.

Over the years, Harry Potter has become a Halloween staple. So why not drink a cocktail inspired by this great literary revolution? The Amortentia will leave your guests tongue twisted not only from trying to pronounce it but also from the love spell it'll cast on you after drinking it.

Are you brave enough to take a sip of this brightly coloured brew? Whipped cream vodka and orange pineapple juice combine with Cruzan aged dark rum to create this powerful potion. So what’s it going to be? Trick or Treat?

Vampire Kiss MartiniFor the grown-ups who aren't on chaperone duty, try this Halloween-style twist on a classic Champagne cocktail. A mix of raspberry, vodka and champagne

Bloody-Punch-Recipe.jpeg

Bloody Punch – Dr. Pepper fans will love this Punch as it mixes the cherry flavor of the brand with other fruity flavors such as strawberry and raspberry.  Let’s not forget the punch of carbon added by the gingerale.

Which ones are you going to try? We can't wait to see what you spook up! Always drink carefully.

Amortentia: Harry Potter Themed Cocktail

Hello Lovely,

One of the most magical things about the JK Rowling series is how very believable the food and drinks sound. No doubt about it, the Wizarding World  is a foodie paradise. And while countless muggles have tried to recreate the drinks, we’ve got a secret recipe that will rival even those of the Harry Potter Restaurant  — and you won’t need an Ollivanders magic wand to pull them off. So, round up your gang of wizards and muggles, and prepare for some serious mixologist sorcery.

“Amortentia doesn’t create actual love, of course. That’s impossible. But it does cause a powerful infatuation or obsession. For that reason, it is probably the most dangerous potion in this room.”  —Horace Slughorn

DIRTY GHOST MARTINI

Hello Lovely,

Well things are starting to get pretty scary around here. With the Halloween weekend only one week away, and there still being so much left to do to prepare, we're pretty much freaking out over here! I woke up in Miami today with the VIVA conference on my mind. Even though I plan on spending the next two nights in prayerful worship, I still plan on going candy shopping so that I can crush the competition at this year's Trunk or Treat at church. Seriously, I am dreaming of the looks of defeat on their faces as we speak!

While it sucks to be away from you all, I didn't leave you without some good comfort food. Um, did I say comfort food, I meant drink. Because that's how we solve problems around here: with a tall Martini!

Disclaimer: no ghosts were harmed in the making of this cocktail.

While I love a fancy cocktail, when it comes to making my own, I like to keep things simple and cheap. You can make this with 3 ingredients in 5 minutes or less so you can always whip up more for your guests if you run out!
