5 Secrets To Making Your Perfume Last

My favourite perfume is Chanel No. 5. I got my first bottle 3 years ago for Christmas, and believe it or not, I can actually make a 3.4 fl. oz. bottle last 2 years! It costs $75 for one bottle, the last time I checked so I definitely do my best to spread it, wearing it only for special occasions. I’m on my second bottle now and let me tell you, when I ran out of the first bottle, it was one of the worst feelings in the world! Even worse, is when you spritz only to find that no one can smell the lovely fragrance on you two hours later! It’s the biggest bummer: You’ve treated yourself to a new fragrance, but despite several morning spritzes, the scent seems to completely disappear by 10am. Before you drown yourself in a suffocating cloud of eau de parfum, get strategic. Try these five hacks—some of which will disprove old habits—to make the most of your purchase!

1. Apply After Showering

Scents last longer on moist skin, so applying perfume after a shower or bath is optimal. Spray it on after drying off, before putting on clothes.

2. Know Your Hot Spots

Go beyond the wrists by spritzing on pulse points that generate more heat. I usually spray the nape of my neck, inside of my elbows, cleavage and stomach. Although you shouldn’t cover all these zones at once, I’d suggest spraying at least the back of your knees or ankles to start, as scent rises throughout the day.

3. Don’t Rub

The old ritual of spraying and rubbing the wrists actually interrupts the fragrance’s true smell, as friction causes heat. This speeds up the evaporation of certain notes, resulting in change of scent.

4. Layer over Lotion

As mentioned before, perfume lingers longer on hydrated skin. Apply unscented moisturizer or my personal favourite, Vaseline on pulse points before spraying to lock it in. If spraying over lotion, make sure that the scents are compatible!

5. Store in a Cool, Dry Place

As pretty as they may look next to your skincare collection, never keep your perfumes in the bathroom. Stay away from damp, humid areas and away from the sun so your precious scents don't break down. Tip: Invest in a chic tray and proudly display your bottles in your bedroom.

The movie is called 'Do You Believe' and is in aid of the women's trip to Fort Lauderdale for the Viva Conference! I get to go again this year and I'm super ecstatic because not only will I be a part of an amazing spiritual movement, but I'll get to see my boyfriend again! The conference is the 22-23 of October!

(Better hurry up and subscribe)! We're celebrating Halloween and Breast Cancer Awareness this month, and I'm proud to say that I'm participating in the Wear It Pink Campaign. Wear It Pink is a simple message for a complex issue. Asking women and also men to wear pink is a small ask that leaves a lot of room for people to plan their events around it.

International Wear it Pink day is October 23, 2015. And what better way to spread awareness, than with these awesome stationary?

Print these chic stationary cards on any plain white/beige cardstock paper to give or pass along any kind of message to a co-worker or a friend.

Use these to invite others to create an early detection plan, invite others to a fundraiser to provide mammograms for women in need or any other fun and creative way you want to show your support!

The great part is they can be double-sided! Just remember to print it that way, or you can use just one side. It’s up to you!

Just remember that if you’re going to share this file, don’t forget to credit the original source. Have fun!

The Halloween printables should be ready by next week!

Kitchen Hack: Never Buy Green Onions Again

We all know gardening is a great way to be frugal.

Growing your own fruits and veggies means lower grocery costs and fewer trips to the store to pick up a vegetable you need for dinner. Plus, there’s no denying that all fruits and veggies taste better when they’re fresh.

Unfortunately, all that great savings comes to an end when summer comes to a close, but there are actually a few vegetables you can grow all year long, regardless of your climate, space constraints or green thumb (which I severely lack)!

Green onions grow fast, and all they need is a little water and a lot of light. With very little effort, you can have a steady supply of green onions, grown right in your kitchen! They add an extra kick to almost any dish, so they’re great to have on hand (especially when they’re free!)

The next time you pick up a bunch or two of green onions at the grocery store, don’t discard the white ends after you’ve used up all the greens. Instead, stick the white root end into a glass with an inch or two of water then place it in a sunny window. THAT'S IT!!!

Make sure to trim most of the green end off before you place it in the water, or they’ll just get droopy!

Within a day or two, you’ll notice the green shoots starting to regrow, and the roots in the water getting longer. In less than a week, they’ll be back to their original size, and you can just trim off as much as you need, whenever you need it.

Not only is this a useful little “kitchen garden,” it also makes a pretty little plant to sit on your windowsill. The best part, though, is knowing you’ll never have to buy green onions again!

The Green Zing Detox Face Mask

I've never been one to know if I'm getting a good deal or not on a beauty product. I'm a wash and go kind of girl, so I just used the basic cleanser, and only wear makeup on special occasions. But in recent times, I'm struggling a lot with acne, a problem I never had in high school. I want it to just go away. So after doing some research, I decided to try a detox mask.

And to be honest, it itched. It itched so bad, I had to really discipline myself and not claw it off before it dried. The site I got the recipe from, didn't specify how often to use it or what exactly it's supposed to do for your skin and how it works, but my skin was butter smooth and tight when I took it off. My skin was bright and glowing! And I got the feeling that prolonged use might actually make a difference. This recipe leaves A LOT left over so you can cover it in plastic wrap and store in the fridge until your next use. It should last at least two weeks.

The Green Zing Face Mask

  • 1/2 overly ripe Avocado

  • 1/2 Lemon (juice)

  • 1 Tbs. Coconut oil

  • 2 drops Lemon essential oil

Blend the avocado until smooth. Add the rest of the ingredients.

Spread a thin layer all over your (non-makeup-ed) clean face and leave it on until it dries, about 15-20 minutes.

Remove by placing a warm washcloth over your face and letting the mask soften. Then, you can just wipe it off with the washcloth and rinse your face completely.

Note: When using citrus essential oils on the skin you should avoid the sun for 24 hrs.

I'll keep you updated on my skin treatments. Any tips you guys want to give me? Sound off in the comment section below and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to receive more awesome posts in your inbox!

5 Different Ways to Plank

Don't call it a resolution.

I'm thinking about...... maybe........... depending on how I feel, the temperature, which way the wind blows, how I happen to look that day, what's on the menu for the day................getting back into exercising. And yes it does depend on all of those key factors!

I am a lazy girl! I am partially ashamed of this fact. The hardest I work in when baking and shopping. That doesn't count, does it?

I've also been considering getting into recording some of my tutorials instead of writing them. That way there would be a visual aid.

So today, I'm talking about my first fitness video called 5 Different Ways to Plank. (And I'm not talking about that crazy fad either).

Planking can actually be fun. It's really intense on the core muscles and super versatile. Short on time? Don't skip the strength-training session — get playful with the plank! By doing multitasking variations of this basic move, you can target your arms, back, core, legs, and booty to chisel out a stronger, more toned you. You can't beat planks for toning your entire body. Here's how to keep them interesting!

What are your fitness goals this year?

Let's see how long I stick to mine.

As the weather cools down, our skin tends to dry up - here we're combining the cooling properties of cucumber & healing benefits of vitamin e for this DIY Cucumber & Lime face mist! Guaranteed to hydrate & refresh.

You'll Need:

- 1/2 cucumber

- peels of 2 limes
- 2 Vitamin E caps or 2 capfuls of Vitamin E Oil

1. Add cucumber & lime peels to a bowl, fill with boiling water & let sit overnight.
2. Strain, add vitamin e liquid.

4. Shake & enjoy!

I tried it on my face, after washing, and my skin felt so soft and clean! The cucumber really is refreshing and the Vitamin E keeps my skin hydrated for hours!
