Thirsty Thursdays: 5 Cinco de Mayo Drinks to Try

Hello Lovely,

Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow! Put the beer down and celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a festive more tasty drink this holiday. It's fiesta & siesta time! Time to enjoy festive Cinco de Mayo drinks. Mojito, margarita and sangria galore. I may be allergic to tequila but that doesn't mean you can't have fun mixing it up. Stick to the classics or get experimental with new fusions that'll have you screaming, "VIVA LA MEXICO" before the night is over!

If you’ve ever looked at the margarita list at a chain Mexican restaurant, you know there are endless variations on this classic drink. The classic margarita recipe is incredibly simple, and it tastes wonderful. You can’t go wrong with it. But you can also tweak the recipe until you come up with your own personal signature margarita! Try different fruit juices and different liqueurs to find what you’re looking for.

This is a great way to put a spin on the classic margarita.

BEERGARITA (MAKES 1 COCKTAIL)

In a cocktail shaker, combine ¼ cup lime juice with 2 tablespoons agave syrup, 1 shot tequila and 2 or 3 ice cubes. Shake well to combine and then strain into a tall glass. Top the glass with 1 cup Pacifico beer (or other pilsner) and serve immediately, garnished with a lime wedge.

The Gingerbeer Highball Cocktail is one of my personal favourites for gatherings. This cocktail is so simple and sooo delicious, it’s ready in 5 minutes or less. Just salt your rim, mix your juices, sweetener and rum and top off with ginger beer. To make it more "Mexican" you can swap out the rum for your favourite tequila. So easy and so fresh!

Maybe you're not a fan of limes? So when life gives you lemons what should you do? Add vodka of course (or tequila since it is Cinco de Mayo).

Not a fan of margaritas? I'm with (only because I'm allergic to Tequila). So enjoy a mojito (Margarita's cousin) instead. The ingredients for this one are so simple except for one detail. Someone please tell me what cream of coconut is. Maybe because I grew up on an island, I have no need for this artificial stuff. Ditch the cream of coconut and go for coconut milk instead, or you know, actual coconut.
