A Mother's Story: My Mother

Being a mother is a dream for most women.  I never understood the magnitude of motherhood until I became one.  I have had an awesome example of what being a mother should be from my mom.

Being a mom is not only great but very rewarding.  There is no doubt as to extent I would go for Alexis and Olivia.  It warms my heart to see them in a relationship with God.  I am so proud, and grateful, of whom they have become.  I am learning when to give advice and when to just listen.  I miss kissing the boo boos, trying to understand their many drawings, listening to their day on our drive home from school, and, tucking them in bed just to list a few.  Olivia still insists that I read her bedtime stories, cut up apples, and Alexis says his food tastes better when I take it up.   I thank God every day for my countless memories.

Being a mother I wish that I can take away all their worries, pains and disappointments.  My daily prayer is that God continues to keep them covered under his wings and build walls of hedges around them.

A Mother's Story: One of a Kind

You can never begin to understand how much I love you ! When I think about all of the things you’ve done for me, my siblings( both biological and adopted) I understand now why when you feel like you’re taken for granted it hurts. This letter serves as a reminder that you are an immaculate design and I’m more than blessed to have been sent to you!

They often say that a child is a mother’s gift but a loving mother is the best gift anyone can ask for when we exist in a world where true unconditional love has become a scarce entity.

I cherish the days I have with left with you no matter the emotions that are present I love you and always will!! Your sacrifices never go unnoticed! I felt my heart break last year thinking that was is but you fought hard to keep a smile on your face even when you were weak and tired. No one knows what They would do without you. You have touched the lives of so many men and women ! You are one of a kind, a huge star in the constellation that surrounds our galaxy!

I won’t go on any further but you get the idea! You did what you had to do that my brother and I wouldn’t have to struggle in life ! You went without so that we could have the best of everything! Eventually I pray that I am able to help you achieve some of your dreams too!

I can say much more but I won’t because those who know you already know! What would we do without you ! A mother to two and a mother to all. Happy Mother’s Day and May you enjoy many more !

The Easy Microwave Keto Bread I Can't Get Enough Of

Hello Lovely,

I know I said that I was done with the keto diet, but I did hold on to the low carb side of it for a smart carb diet. One of my favourite go to’s on this trend is keto bread. Now there are many variations of this, and I even shared one before, but this is different. This one I found on Pinterest. It’s so easy to whip up as it cooks in the microwave in 90 seconds. The best part? Toasting it afterwards for a delicious firm bun! I usually do this as an English muffin, but guess what, you can make this in any shape depending on the container you put it in. If you want to use a sandwich container to get the shape and simply manipulated the ingredients to make it stretch. I make this for breakfast once a week because it’s so easy. It takes about 10 minutes to make even though you only need 1.5 in the microwave so it’s still a quick and easy dish to whip up!

Microwave Keto Bread

  • 3 TBS almond flour

  • 1.5 TBS melted butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 egg white

  1. Mix all ingredients in a mug (if making an English muffin) or sandwich container for a “toast bread” feeling.

  2. Microwave for 90 seconds.

  3. Cut in half (if you did it in a mug). Feel free to stop here, but for a firmer “bread”, lightly toast on each side in a skillet before serving.

  4. Top with whatever you want and enjoy!

What’s your go to breakfast during the week that you can whip up without a recipe? Tell us about it in the comments below.

What I'm Doing For Cinco De Mayo

Hello Lovely,

I’m so excited for this weekend because there’s so much happening. Not only is it Carnival Weekend, it’s also Cinco De Mayo on Sunday! I’m kicking off this weekend with Insomnia tonight. The artists lined up for tonight is Bunji Garlin, Kes the Band, Patrice Roberts, Dexta Daps, Voice, Sketch Carey, Rik Carey and Benji. It’s going to be sheer madness so I’m taking a nap immediately after work to rest up since I know Bunji Garlin won’t hit the stage until about 2 am. I’m not going to the saturday night event: Amnesia because I don’t feel like standing through a bunch of artists I don’t really care for just to listen to Machel for the 3rd year in a row. Don’t get me wrong, I love Machel, but I really think it’s time we get a new Carnival headliner just to mix things up a bit, you know. I’m also not doing the road march because I could not fathom spending a minimum of $300 on a costume that I can only wear once. (I barely wanted to spend $50 on my Wonder Woman costume for my school’s Christmas play). But that’s not all I’m doing this weekend!

Sunday is Cinco do Mayo and my friends are of course celebrating as usual. For Cinco De Mayo, we’re having a gathering by my best friend Telia (our resident Mexican in the group. She’s not actually Mexican but we just love calling her tha0)t. We’re having tacos, quesadillas, chips and dips, nachos and LOTS of alcohol. I’m experimenting with a new margarita from Vintage Kitty, called the Orange Turmeric Margarita. Turmeric can be very potent but I’m excited to see how I can turn this into everyone’s new favourite drink.

I’m also boozing it up with these irresistible Margarita Cupcakes! Dessert is always the afterthought of Cinco de Mayo. Tacos and guac are of utmost importance, I get it. As are the margaritas. But after all the salty snacks (and drinks), sweets are definitely in order. I’m hoping these boozy cupcakes keep the fiesta going.

Of course there will be games. I love playing What do You Meme because my friends can be pretty savage so the responses are hilarious! You have to check out this game and play this at your next function. CAUTION: This game is not for the uptight, overly religious, humourless people who are out of touch with pop culture. If they blush at a caption card, they probably shouldn’t play the game.

How are you spending Cinco de Mayo? Do you have any dish recommendations for the fiesta? Do you have any plans of attending Carnival? Share your weekend plans in the comment section below!

Trend Report: Jelly Nails Are Back in a BIG Way

Hello Lovely,

If you’re old enough to remember jelly nails from the 90s, you probably already have your mind made up about jelly nails. And if you have never heard of this trend, take notes. Jelly nails are essentially clear acrylics. The summertime trend is giving people major '90s nostalgia, and some are even comparing them to jelly shoes. If you want to go forth and jellify your nails, the look is either created using transparent neon false nails layered over the top of the real nail or using a polish tint like OPI sheer tint over acrylic nails.

Ever since Kylie Jenner shared a photo of her jelly nails, people all over, have been running to their nail techs to get on this trend. If you're a lover of the look, read on for plenty more inspiration, and if you're not so keen on the trend yet, don’t feel bad. I’m giving this trend a hard no. This look kind of creeps me out and leaves me feeling pretty uninspired. Especially because I’m currently giving my nails a break to allow them to heal and regrow, I’m not about to jump on any nail trend right about now.

What do you think of this new trend? Love it or hate it? Share your reactions in the comment section below!
